Four Myrtle Beach-area basketball teams ranked in latest statewide polls

Two oft-forgotten area basketball teams have joined a pair of regulars in the most recent state basketball rankings.

The latest polls, released Tuesday afternoon, include the Conway boys, as well as the Myrtle Beach, Carvers Bay and Green Sea-Floyds girls. Conway, No. 8 in Class AAAA, stormed out of the gate this season, winning its first 10 games before Saturday’s loss to defending Class AAAA champion Wando.

Green Sea-Floyds’ only loss this season came on the road at South Columbus (N.C.). The Trojans are now No. 7 in Class A.

The Myrtle Beach and Carvers Bay girls - two teams who were included in the preseason polls back in November - are No. 9 in Class AAA and No. 2 in Class A, respectively.

The rankings are conducted by coaches around the state and compiled and released by the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association.
