On Grand Strand Golf: Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday alters dues; creates another tournament

With an overwhelming vote of its membership last week, marketing cooperative Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday has altered its dues structure.

Rather than collect a $1.50 transaction fee per walk-in round from golf courses, as it has for the past eight years, the organization that promotes the Myrtle Beach golf market regionally, nationally and internationally is reverting back to a set annual fee for golf course membership.

Eighteen-hole courses will now pay $20,000 per year and 27-hole facilities will pay $21,500 for membership in 2015. Package providers and hotels will continue to adhere to the existing method, paying the $1.50 fee per package round booked in addition to a $3,000 annual fee.

Golf Holiday president Bill Golden said the change was meant to be revenue-neutral and should have little if any impact on Golf Holiday’s annual budget, which he said was $5.3 million in 2014.
