Horry County firefighter killed in motorcycle crash remembered

Mitch Hanna was a passionate and meticulous man about his life and firefighting, said Brian VanAernem, Horry County Fire Rescue spokesman.

Hanna was killed Tuesday about 12:15 p.m. in a crash while riding his motorcycle along Enoch Road, officials said.

On Thursday, VanAernem said the fire department appreciated the calls and prayers for them “during this difficult time.”

“In remembering Mitch, there is not one story that doesn't involve a tale about his smile and the passion that he would tell his stories,” VanAernem said. “Mitch will be missed by all who had the privilege to work and interact with him. His shoes will be very hard to fill for he was that guy. God Bless you Mitch, we love you and we will think of you every day. Rest in Peace my friend, we will take it from here.”
