An Horry County man is jailed in Darlington County after federal officials learned of a plan he developed to rob a Myrtle Beach armored truck service and behead the manager and his wife in attempt to make the crime look like terrorism, according to court documents.

David Lawrence Wallace Jr., 37, of Nichols, was charged Nov. 17 with conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act Robbery and is being held at the Darlington County Detention Center, according to a U.S. District Court criminal complaint and jail records.

Wallace waived his bond hearing and is being held pending prosecution on the charge, according to court records.

Wallace was most recently employed as a prison guard at the Tabor Correctional Institution in Tabor City, N.C. Wallace was placed on leave following his arrest on Nov. 17.

In the criminal complaint, a tip was submitted to the FBI by an Army reservist who said Wallace approached him on Sept. 6 about robbing an armored vehicle facility in Myrtle Beach later that year. The reservist told authorities he was approached by Wallace during a weekend drill the men attended together.
