Many places across Myrtle Beach area open for cheer on Christmas Day

Anyone desiring something to do outside the house on Christmas Day can unwrap a wealth of possibilities.

Besides four movies opening nationwide next Thursday — “Big Eyes, “Into the Woods” and “Unbroken” — many restaurants and other establishments, such as two Broadway at the Beach anchors — Ripley’s Aquarium and WonderWorks — are open daily, including Dec. 25, especially in this tourist market.

Mike Walker, a longtime interpretive ranger at Huntington Beach State Park, said that oceanfront site, like Myrtle Beach State Park, also opens its gates “every day of the year.” Both of the parks welcome the public for walks, bicycling, nature and bird watching, and simply for savoring the scenery.

On the holiday, several bowling centers will rack up the pins, and all three local par-3 golf courses also will welcome players to take some swings.
