Small Business Administration providing disaster assistance to Windsor Green fire victims

The Windsor Green condo fire incident from March 16, 2013, has qualified for disaster loan assistance by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). There were 47 units with major uninsured or underinsured damage.

Whether Windsor Green residents owned or rented their homes, they may be eligible for low-interest disaster loansfrom the SBA. Representatives from the SBA will be available to meet with Windsor Green residents to see if they qualify from Tuesday, April 2, to Thursday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Carolina Forest Library, located at 2250 Carolina Forest Boulevard.

 Applicants will need to bring the following documentation to apply for a low-interest disaster loan:

  • Picture identification
  • Proof of income – the applicant may be able to obtain information from their employer, or they may also sign from 8821 authorizing the SBA to view their tax return information.
  • Proof of residency – may be verified through a utility bill or tax return.

 Residents may also apply on-line using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA’s secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela. The filing deadline to return applications for physical property damage is MAY 28, 2013.
