South Atlantic Bank to cut ribbon Thursday for Pawleys Island branch

South Atlantic Bank’s top management will cut the ribbon Thursday on a new branch in Pawleys Island that combines traditional Lowcountry architecture with 21st century technology, according to information from the bank.

The 4,000-square-foot, one-story building at the corner of Ocean Highway and Lachicotte Road features deep porticoes, louvered storm shutters and pulley-operated ceiling fans as well as free Wi-Fi in the reception area, a cash recycler to speed teller processing of deposits and a biometric access system to safety deposit boxes.

The branch is the fourth for the Myrtle Beach-headquartered bank. It plans to open a North Myrtle Beach office this year, the bank said in a news release.

Bank chairman and CEO K. Wayne Wicker, president R. Scott Plyler and chief financial officer Richard N. Burch are scheduled to attend the 9 a.m. ribbon cutting.
