Strand Notebook | Local movie to be shown at Horry County Museum

At 1 p.m. Saturday, the locally produced film “Birth of a Nation: The Making of the Declaration of Independence” will be shown in the McCown Auditorium at the Horry County Museum.

The showing is part of the Horry County Museum Film Series, a 2014-15 event presented by the museum and Coastal Carolina University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

If you go, you might want to allow time to explore the numerous exhibits at the museum depicting the history and culture of the county, including the 4,400-gallon “tanked” aquarium that is the focal point of the museum. The freshwater aquarium, built by Acrylic Tank Manufacturing and featured on Animal Planet’s hit show “Tanked,” gives visitors a view of natural living history and an opportunity to see a variety of fish that are found in local rivers and lakes.
