SCE&G to give back for Earth Month

South Carolina Electric and Gas Company has announced it will donate $1 to the non-profit organization Palmetto Clean Energy for every one of its customers who signs up for paperless billing during Earth Month this April.

Approximately 30% of of SCE&G's customers have already signed up for electronic billing, which is more than double the 12% national average among utility providers.

Bob Long, the chairman of the PaCE board of directors, was enthusiastic about the opportunity for SCE&G customers to support the growth and advancement of renewable energy sources in South Carolina.

“April is Earth Month and a great time to bring awareness to the available renewable energy sources in South Carolina. SCE&G customers can help support the development of renewable energy sources in our state by simply signing up for the paperless billing option. It’s easy to do and environmentally friendly too.”

It really is easy to do. Each month, customers who have chosen the paperless billing option receive an e-mail from SCE&G when their bill is ready to be viewed online. By signing in to their account, customers can view the bill electronically and choose how to pay it, using one of several payment methods, including epay and eDraft.

Nearly half of SCE&G's 670,000 electric customers are located in the greater Charleston area. The company also serves approximately 320,000 natural gas customers throughout South Carolina.
