For Immediate Release

December 20, 2013

AWENDAW, SC – The Center for Birds of Prey has been selected as the benefiting nonprofit of Whole Foods Market 5% Day at the 923 Houston Northcutt Boulevard location in Mt. Pleasant.  On Tuesday, January 7th, 5% of the day’s net sales will be donated to the Center for the Birds of Prey.

Funds raised during the 5% Day will help injured birds in the Avian Medical Clinic and will broaden the Center’s reach with students and educators throughout South Carolina.  With your purchases at Whole Foods Market on Tuesday, January 7, you’ll be supporting a community of committed natural resource advocates working to spread a conservation message and ethic of environmental stewardship.

Whole Foods Market is a long-standing champion of environmental conservation and has generously supported nonprofits in the Charleston area for years.  The store’s commitment to community action and environmental stewardship is well known, as evidenced by this generous giving program.

Admission to the center in Awendaw is $12 for adults ($15 beginning 1/1/14), $10 for youth (ages 6-18) and free for children younger than six. Admission includes a guided tour and flight demonstrations. Center hours are Thursday through Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. with tour times at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
