Downtown Beaufort's Verdier House to become local tourism hub

The Verdier House is one of downtown's oldest buildings.

When was the last time your or someone you know toured the circa 1804 John Mark Verdier House at the corner of Bay and Scott streets?

If the answer is "Not lately," then the Historic Beaufort Foundation is aiming to fix that.

Rather than just be a historical home museum the idea, according to foundation Executive Director Julie Good as reported in The Island Packet, is to convert the space into a museum-tourism center hybrid where visitors can still tour the home but also connect to other area historical sites and events.

Sounds like a solid idea to us.

I'll point you to the paper's report for details (read it here.)
