Local authors, writers, creatives wanted to read for Read Across America event, March 1

Grab a hat and read a book along with other authors, readers, creatives from the Lowcountry region on March 1.  The United Way of the Lowcountry and the University of South Carolina Beaufort have partnered to deliver a reading event as part of the National Education Association's Read Across America.  Information about attending this event will post soon.

There are several ways that local creatives can participate in this event. They can submit a quote to appear in pre-event promotion and/or commit to serve as a reader.

To submit a favorite quotation from a favorite children's or young adult book send quotes to aquabetpr@gmail.com (Ann-Marie Adams).  Quotes should be less than 5 sentences long, include Author Name, Book/Series Title,  Your Name, Your Title for inclusion with the quote. Quotes can be received beginning February 22 and can continue through noon on February 28, 2013 for inclusion. These quotes will be posted on the UWL FaceBook page and Twitter Account in the days preceding the event.

The other opportunity to participate in this event is to commit to attend the event and read at a dedicated time on the reading schedule beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continuing until 5:00 p.m. Contact Ann-Marie Adams aquabetpr@gmail, (843) 321.0430 to commit to serve as a reader on March 1, 2013.   At the time you commit to participating please provide the following information 1)your Full Name; 2)Your Preferred Title; 3)Book Selection [Book, author, pages]; 4)Personal note on selection made; 5) A 250 word bio (optional, but good to use in promotion of your participation)Each reader is provided a 15 minute segment in which to read. Readers will relay their story/book at the USCB Bluffton Campus Library steps on March 1, 2013 (sound and seating provided) .
