Penn Center crossing the 150 year mark

Originally opened in 1862 as a school for freed slaves to learn work and trade skills, Penn Center continues on St. Helena Island as a marker and preserver of Sea Island history and tradition.

This year the school marks 150 years with a $100 formal gala on Hilton Head on Saturday, April 28.

WTOC 11 caught up with the school for a brief bit of reflection on 150 years; watch the video over here.
