The Salkehatchie Stew storytellers will be in Walterboro this Friday and Saturday to present The Colleton Collection, which will feature 10 different storytellers.

According to its website Salkehatchie Stew is:

a pleasing dish of assorted ingredients and flavors.  We are constantly cooking up a medley of artistic expression through theatrical productions, visual arts, music, and spoken word. Creative juices from Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Colleton and Hampton counties have been simmering together since 2006, cooking up the perfect Salkehatchie Stew. For those who enjoy variety on their menu we offer community productions and storytelling gatherings throughout the year.

Don't know that I understand what all of that means, but it sounds like there are a couple of cool events planned for Walterboro for the weekend. Since I really had no idea what Salkehatchie Stew was all about, I figured why not let the Island Packet's David Lauderdale teach me a little more.

Friday night will be a Mystery Stroll with participants visiting local businesses to collect clues to solve "Who Done It?"

On Saturday there will be lots of music and artisan displays and of course storytelling. You can find the storytelling schedule here.

For additional information check out the event's Facebook page or this brief brochure.
