Updated July 5: Hilton Head was passed over during the July 4 flyover, leaving several beachgoers quite disappointed.

According to a brief in The Island Packet and on the initiative's Facebook page, Hilton Head beaches were passed over due to air traffic issues.

WSAV was out there to cover the flyover, and when it didn't happen, well it made lemonade out of the lemons, posting a story on the disappointed crowd. You can check out the video below.

Reported July 1: The 2nd Annual Salute from the Shore is coming to make a nice addition to the 4th of July calendar

Air Force F-16 “Vipers” flown by 77th Fighter Squadron “The Gamblers” of the 20th Fighter Wing from Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter will execute a low altitude flyover of the South Carolina coast as participants "Salute from the Shore"  wearing and waving the red, white and blue.

They are asking people to get as creative as they can so that their Salute can be seen from the air.

A helicopter will video the crowd in certain areas.

The Flyover will start at the North Carolina border at 1 p.m. It will fly south, covering every beach in South Carolina and end at 1:20 p.m. at the Georgia border.
