Update: The Island Packet's Erin Moody has a follow-up report noting that preperations are coming together for the November 20 grand opening.

Local landscaping services company The Greenery is donationg $17,000 worth of labor to help get the first mile of The Spanish Moss Trail from Depot to Allison roads up and running.

From November 12 to 15 the company will help install landscape and irrigation at the old train depot and "host a landscape blitz" from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 14 at the site.

More than 100 of The Greenery’s employees from crew to office staff will get their hands dirty during the landscape blitz. The group will install irrigation, trees, shrubs, pinestraw,  groundcover and 10,000 square feet of sod.

While already largely open to the public, the first leg of rail trail is slated for a public opening on November 20.
