Update March 24: An unnamed Island Packet photographer made it out to the even and has some fun photos with solid captions.

First reporting: The weather's fantastic to go see some of our area's more interesting local events.

The Yemassee Truck Mud Run is being held today, Mach 20, at noon in Yemassee. $10.

According to the Facebook event page, they're expecting a good turnout, and:

March 20 will be the first race of the 2011 season and a Filthy 5K Run will be held March 26th. Drivers have been working on their trucks during the off-season to get them ready for Yemassee Mud Action, and this is traditionally the race that draws the most trucks and largest crowd, so get there early for the party! Marines from VMFA-224 and VMFA-312 are back home from deployments and are expected to show up in great numbers.

T-shirts and food vendors will be on site. We are still looking for event sponsors for this season. If you know of a business owner who might be interested, have them contact Collins Lane through the website e-mail or FB group page.
