Lowcountry Red Cross to hold new volunteer recruitment and training session

In an attempt to recruit new volunteers for their cause and spread knowledge of how to act in the event of a natural disaster, the Lowcountry's American Red Cross will hold a training day for those interested on Saturday, May 20 at the Palmetto Electric Building in Ridgeland.

The event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., trains prospective volunteers on how to act in such crises situations, as well as how to properly evacuate people to safety. After completion of the training, new volunteers are able to serve the Red Cross locally, or across the nation.
