Update December 16, tabled: The school board voted to delay the vote on Shell Point Elementary's closure -- and voted down a measure to put the topic on the January 7 meeting.

What's it mean? The school closure debate is going to get a good bit of time to cool down and be reassessed.

The Island Packet has a nice report from the meeting while WSAV has a nice video chat with school supporters.

First reporting: The public voiced more uneasiness with the potential closure of Shell Point Elementary during the third and final public meeting held to receive comments on that and other issues.

The Island Packet has a full writeup of last night's meeting here.

Meanwhile, the Beaufort County Board of Education is scheduled to meet tonight, and on its agenda is a motion to "table discussions concerning school closings until after new year."

WSAV also has a follow-up report on the protests of the school's closure. You can find the video below.
