Be sure to wear it or face a fine: 'Buckle Up South Carolina' campaign is back

The Beaufort County Sherriffs Office and the South Carolina Department of Public Safety announced in a statement to the media Thursday, May 19 their increased participation in the "Buckle Up South Carolina" campaign.

As a result, from Monday, May 23 and to Sunday, June 5, officers have been instructed to prioritize and reinforce the importance of wearing a seatbelt. Check out the full press release below:

BEAUFORT, SC (May 19/9:00AM) – The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the 2011 Buckle Up South Carolina campaign. The men and women of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office are proud to partner with the South Carolina Department of Public Safety and law enforcement agencies throughout the state in the annual Memorial Day Buckle Up South Carolina campaign.

This campaign focuses on the importance of using a seatbelt during the operation of a motor vehicle. Increased enforcement of the South Carolina seat belt law will be conducted beginning May 23rd, 2011 until June 5th, 2011
