Updated May 5: In its most recent email blast 303 Associates has announced that Hecklers, another sports grill, will be filling the spot vacated by The Office.

Here's that the newsletter says:

Hecklers, a family-friendly sports grille, will open at the end of May in Beaufort Town Center.  Located in Suite 100 of 2121 Boundary Street, Hecklers will offer both indoor and outdoor dining and plenty of game viewing opportunities!

Owned and operated by Beaufort restaurateurs Brian Ferry and David Parker, Hecklers will feature a wide variety of starters, light fare and tapas, as well as sandwiches, burgers and dogs, pastas and wood fired pizzas.  Menu selections offer something for everyone, whether you're looking for snacks to nibble throughout a game, a delicious meal, or perhaps both, Hecklers has you covered.

Updated Feb. 21: A brief in The Island Packet confirms what we already knew, The Office Sports Bar & Grille indeed has closed.

No word on why it shut down, and landlord Dick Stewart says he's talking to two prospective tenants.

Reported Feb. 15: The sign says it all, The Office Sports Bar & Grille in Beaufort Town Center is closed, and no it's not reopening.

We've not heard back from the The Office's owner, Jim Laferriere, but his Facebook posts make it pretty clear that the sports bar is closed for good.

There are also several posts from fans of the restaurant lamenting its closing, but no response from the biz on its Facebook page.

We'll wait to see what's next in that spot, which so far hasn't been able to maintain a bar/restaurant for more than a couple of years.
