A report coming out of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office suggests that a shooting took place on the night of Tuesday, May 31, after a witness say two men being stomped and kicked by two others.

According to The Island Packet's retelling of events, authorities arrived at Grays Hill Community Center at 7:25 p.m. to a crowd in excess of 100 people. Shortly thereafter, a man believed to be in his twenties was pushed to the ground by two others and a gunshot was heard. The crowd of people soon dispersed, and the men eluded capture after the police's search for the bullet casing proved unsuccessful.
