The latest water samples for the water in the Burton area of Beaufort is free from bacteria and is safe for human consumption, according to a release by Beaufort Jasper Water and Sewer Authority (BJWSA).

The precautionary boil advisory for all subdivisions along Joe Frazier Road, Mroz Road (including Irongate, Capehart and Pelican Circle), Morrall Drive and the Habersham subdivision has been lifted.

The precautionary advisory to boil water to be used for drinking or cooking was issued Thursday, December 15 due to an incident that occurred where water pressure dramatically dropped while water service was being restored to the area along Burton Wells Road. The drop in pressure allowed for the possibility of bacteria to enter the public drinking water system. Tests now show that the drinking water in the area is free from all harmful bacteria.
