Beaufort temps near record highs

Just when you started to get used to the fall temperatures here comes the heat again.

In fact, the temps in and around Beaufort yesterday and today either approached or tied record highs.

Savannah saw a high of 88 degrees yesterday, tying a record high set in 1980, and the high of 82 in Beaufort was just a few degrees off the record high of 86 in 2007.

Temperatures in Beaufort could reach 85 today and approach the 2002 record high of 87.

Savannah temps today should fall a few degrees short of its 1939 record high of 91.

The National Weather Service does predict highs dropping back into the mid-70s by Friday and that should hold through what looks like it will be a beautiful weekend.
