Update September 20: In a follow up editorial, The Island Packet opines about just how succesful the program was, and how justifiable the normal late fees of $75 to $125 are.

First reporting September 9: Beaufort County's fee-free grace period for those behind on property taxes drew to a close on September 2nd.

So what's the county have to show for it?

$3.35 million.

That's according to a report over at The Island Packet that also quotes Treasurer Doug Henderson as saying the new program blew away his expectations.
