Sanford questions potential conflict of interest in Port of Port Royal sale

Gov. Mark Sanford hinted at potential conflict of interest when the S.C. Budget and Control board approved the sale of the Port of Port Royal earlier this month. Now the governor has put those concerns in writing in an op-ed piece that ran in the Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette.

Sanford writes that "good ol' boy" politics were in play regarding the sale of the port.

You can read the op-ed here.

The Island Packet followed up on the op-ed and sought responses from the two parties being accused: an attorney for the Budget and Control Board and the former chief of staff for S.C. House Speaker Bobby Harrell. Check out the Island Packet's report here.
