Years later, those in charge of Jasper port effort agree to study river's basics

This is a long way away from reality in Jasper County.

Two years back I wrote about how surprisingly slow progress has been on a long sought port in Jasper County, and it seems little had changed.

The Charleston Regional Business Journal reports that the bi-state body responsible for the planning has approved a $1.2 million budget for 2013 in the hopes of charting a study on the Savannah River's capacity and navigability.

With such fundamental questions only in the early stages and set for completion sometime in 2013, don't look for much talk about construction in the next couple of years either.
