You may recall that back in January we offered up a report that state officials throughout the Carolinas expected the tourism industry to continue its recovery this year.

Well, it appears that is, indeed, the case.

The Island Packet has a report that the CVBs on both side of the Broad River are reporting that occuapncy rates are up, though some hotels are having to woo guests with the promise of free gas.

You can check out the report here.

Tourism is a $39 billion industry for N.C. and S.C. combined, and obviously is a huge economic driver for Beaufort County.
