The Associated Press has a report on state officials throughout the Carolinas expecting the tourism industry to continue its recovery in 2011.

Tourism is a $39 billion industry for N.C. and S.C. combined, and obviously is a huge economic driver for Beaufort County.

You may remember that back in July we reported that the Beaufort CVB had released figures that hotel occupancy rates were up locally.

The Associated Press piece reports that from last January through November hotel occupancy throughout S.C. was up 6.7 percent — better than the national figure of 5.7 percent.
