After more than 50 years, Parris Island Marines get new recruit barracks

Marine Corps
Inside the former barracks on Parris Island that. It will still be used in the near term.

The thousands of recruits that cycle through the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island all must go through one building.

That barracks has stood since 1958.

And so it's with much pride that the Corps cut the ribbon on the long-planned new $85 million and $21 million dining hall last week.

As you'd expect, multiple reports abound, but I prefer WSAV's more feature-y video; watch that here.

WTOC also has a straight-forward news video (watch that here), and The Island Packet has a solid write-up (read that here).
