The 2007 Blue Angels crash caused a lot of damage--including death--and now a lawsuit filed by a Beaufort couple whose home sustained a lot of damage may be finally headed to trial.

The lawsuit was filed in October 2010 by George and Shirley Smith against the federal government. The Smiths claimed that their home was demolished in May 2007 when an F-18 Hornet's landing-gear assembly crashed through their house's roof. The couple is asking for $2.45 million, claiming not only physical damage but psychological trauma as well.

The defense's attorneys asked for the lawsuit to be dismissed due to claims that the Smiths had already received a settlement.

The two parties were ordered to mediation, and if an agreement can't be reached, then they will go to trial by April 30th.
