LEGO EDUCATION DONATES MATERIALS FOR THE RE-IMAGINING EDUCATION AND LEARNING (REAL) CENTER AT WHALE BRANCH EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL

Beaufort County School District will receive over $17,000 in LEGO Education products and services to enhance its Re-imaginingEducation and Learning (REAL) Center.  LEGO commended the district on the commitment to provide students technological learning tools.  

About two weeks ago Beaufort County School District received a donation totaling over $102,000 to establish a Re-imagining Education and Learning (REAL) center, the first in the United States.  The donation provides equipment, hardware, software and furniture for classrooms to utilize technology in new, engaging ways.    

This REAL Center, housed at Whale Branch Early College High School, will be available to showcase classroom instruction infused with technology and hands on activities for teachers, school and district leaders, across the United States.  “We are very proud to receive this generous donation from LEGO which will provide robots and materials to support learning in the REAL Center.  We look forward to the ribbon cutting on April 8 at 9:30 a. m. at Whale Branch Early College High School” said Dr. Valerie Truesdale.

Instructional Technology Coordinator, Cory Tressler said, “We are very excited about the donation of LEGO Education robotics hardware and software to the REAL Center at Whale Branch Early College High School. Through the building and programming of robots, students will be exposed to various Math, Science, and Technology concepts via LEGO Educations’ dynamic, student focused approach to learning. LEGO Education robotics provide students with the opportunity to engage in higher order thinking activities, such as problem solving and project based learning activities, which will push our students to be creative and resourceful learners.”
