Yes, we've all heard it before: Welcome to the Slowcountry.

But wait a minute, maybe that's not a bad thing, suggests Beaufort architect Jane Frederick.

Perhaps we should embrace the ideals that lead people to call this region the Slowcountry. Perhaps we should make a pact to protect our culture, environment and small-town way of life. Perhaps we should become a Cittaslow.
