Pulling up the Port Royal Railroad tracks

As you've probably heard, the Beaufort-Jasper Water & Sewer Authority acquired the right of way to the old Port Royal Railroad lines and has begun removing them rail as the Authority has service pipes underneath.

Well if you're curious about just how that happens, know that it's not exactly the most high tech operation; check out the video up top from last week when I just happened to be nearby when they were being torn up near Mossy Oaks.

What you're seeing is the later stage in a several step process after the rail has been loosened and it is mechanically plowed apart from the wooden ties.

As for the recovered material, it is being sold to recoup costs.
