Update, May 16: Kate Cerve has an interesting feature in The Island Packet that follows up with some of the recent graduates to document how their job search is going.

According to the report, 41% of the 73% of graduates who applied for a job received an offer, with 24% having secured a position prior to graduation day--up a combined 19% from 2010. Those numbers and others cited in the piece are taken from a recent survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers which conclude that while finding jobs this year has been much easier than the two or three years that proceeded it, it is still no easy task.

First reporting: Nearly 3,000 people appeared to listen to Ambassador Karen Hughes speak, and, more importantly, watch 272 students officially collect thier degrees from the University of South Carolina Beaufort.

Included in the graduates were: USCB's 1,000 graduate, the first class of students to earn Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees, and the first group of graduating Studio Art students,  and the first cohort of Saturday Business Degree students.
