Come out and see sights like Parris Island's scaled-down replica of the Iwo Jima Monument.

Calling it a "bike ride through history", the Parris Island Museum at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island is hosting a bicycle tour this Saturday, April 14.

It's a 15-mile course that aims to highlight historical locations across the base from prehistory to the modern Marine presence, with docents at some sites to discuss the area's history.

Riders can begin their journey between 9 and noon — you can see detailed information on the route in this PDF.

Rest stops will be available along the route and the event is free and those who join the Parris Island Historical and Museum Society during the event will receive a free Iron Mike Bike Tour T-shirt and a discount on all purchases at the museum's gift shop.

All riders must wear a helmet and follow the standard rules of the road and minors must be accompanied by an adult. When coming on board the Depot, tell the guards at the gate you are here to take part in the Iron Mike Bike tour. Drivers must show a valid driver's license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance.
