CJO Presents LITTLE GIRL BLUE: Celebrating the Music of Nina Simone

Charleston Jazz Orchsetra, CJO, presents at the band’s House of Swing, the Charleston Music Hall, Downtown Charleston at 37 John Street. Two sets will be performed, 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., with no intermission. Adult tickets $30-$45. Senior tickets $25-$40. Seniors qualify at 65 years old. Student ticket rates vary. This tribute  promises to be a soul-filled evening of music featuring CJO’s female vocalist, Leah Suárez, with special guest appearances by vocalists Lindsay Holler and Aisha Smith. Carrying on its tradition, CJO will offer its own take on some of Simone’s most notable contributions to American music, premiering in-house arrangements, rounding out a set list including, “Wild Is The Wind,” arranged by lead alto saxophonist Robert Lewis, “Wok Song,” arranged by tenor saxophonist Mark Sterbank, “Feeling Good,” arranged by guitarist Tyler Ross, “I Want A Little Sugar In My Bowl,” arranged by pianist Gerald Gregory and vocalist Leah Suárez, and “Love Me or Leave Me,” arranged by Maestro Singleton, himself.
