HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Visitors to Hilton Head Island for the annual RBC Heritage Golf Tournament can take a break from the action with a variety of activities hosted at nearby Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, known for its three championship golf courses. From April 14-16, the resort will host fittings, demo days and more open to the public at its famed oceanfront Robert Trent Jones course.
On Monday, April 14, guests can schedule an appointment for a PING Golf Fitting from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Robert Trent Jones course driving range. From 5-7 p.m., former PGA pro John Maginnes will host his “Maginnes on Tap” PGA Tour Radio show on XM 93/Sirius 208 live from the course.
On Tuesday, April 15, TaylorMade Golf will host a fitting by appointment at the driving range from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. From 1-5 p.m. on Tuesday, visitors can try the latest Nike VR-S Covert 2.0 drivers, fairways, hybrids and irons as part of Nike Golf Demo Day. Sterling Sharpe, a 5-time pro-bowler in the NFL, as well as an avid golfer, will also be on hand as part of the Nike Golf Experience. He will be giving a golf demonstration on the course from 2-3 p.m. and signing autographs at the Jones pro shop from 3-4 p.m. The Robert Trent Jones course pro shop is one of only six Nike Golf TTC Concept Shops in the country.
On Wednesday, April 16, Cobra Golf will be on hand offering demonstrations of its latest golf equipment from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. From 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the ECCO Comfort Tech golf van will stop by, showcasing the latest in golf footwear.
Director of Golf Instruction Doug Weaver will also host his free weekly golf demonstration at the Jones course on Monday, April 14 at 4 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions during the fully-interactive class and can volunteer to win a free lesson or a prize.
