The ARK Hosts Leader Training for Powerful Tools for Caregivers Class

Individuals interested in making a difference in the lives of caregivers can become a leader for the Powerful Tools for Caregivers class. The ARK, Alzheimer’s Family Support Services, is offering a two-day leader training course in April.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a six-week evidence-based class that teaches caregivers to thrive while they are caring for a loved one with a chronic illness. This program helps family caregivers reduce stress, improve self-confidence, communicate feelings better, balance their lives, increase their ability to make tough decisions, and locate helpful resources.

Peg Lahmeyer and Micky Styslinger from The ARK are master trainers and will teach the leader course April 21-22 at The ARK, 206 Central Ave. in Summerville. Trainees are required to attend the entire two-day training and participate in exercises and practice teaching.

Fee is $250 (payable to The ARK of SC, two weeks prior to the training) and includes one copy of “The Caregiver Helpbook” and “A Prescription for Caregivers: Take Care of Yourself” DVD; continental breakfast and lunch; and the Powerful Tools for Caregivers scripted curriculum for all classes (90-minute and 2 1/2-hour scripts, and Class Leader Tips manuals).
