Of 5 Charleston James Beard semifinalists and one finalist, no dice

Update May 9: Alas, the lone Charleston finalist, Cypress Executive Chef Craig Deihl, didn't prevail in the Best Chef Southeast category.

Instead the award went to Andrea Reusing of Chapel Hill's Lantern (whose food, I must concede, looks pretty tasty.)

On the James Beard blog, you can see a full list of the night's winners here and read all about the night over here.

Still we ought not lick our wounds too much as Charleston has seen much James Beard love in the last several years with Robert Stehling of Hominy Grill in 2008Mike Lata of FIG in 2009, and Sean Brock of then McCrady's now Husk in 2010

Charleston City Paper has a bit more on the announcement as well as a list of Deihl's competition, and you can check out the full list of nominees on the James Beard website.
