Left in the cold, disabled man has new home

Evicted from his home, R.W. Langford spent many of hist nights between Christmas and New Year's out in the cold in front of a downtown Charleston shelter.

But he's now at an Christian-oriented Allendale home, renting a room for $55 a week.

The whole problem started when Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital erroneously sent Langford to Crisis Ministries. That shelter couldn't admit Langford as he is wheelchair bound and needs assisted living, which Crisis Ministries is not qualified for. -- That left Langford broke and in the cold.

But Charleston Interfaith Crisis Ministries answered the call, and took Langford to the Allendale home, paying for his first month until Langford's $738 in monthly assistance from the Department of Veterans Affairs catches back up with him.
