Roots, emotion of Fringe's 'The Sacred Harp' impress
Sacred Harp singing is about rhythms, poetry and harmonies.
Traditional "shapenote" singers from South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama performed this all-day singing from a hymn book first published in 1844 and still in use today.
Though the sole performance is over, The New York Times' Art Blog was there and has a nice capture of the moment; read it here.
