Luxury marketing floats into town

The 228-foot, $40 million megayacht SeaFair is in town through Saturday to promote the five-story ship as a platform to market "exclusive luxury products."

Now, we know it's not very likely most of us will set foot on it (the average guest has a net worth of $10 million to $15 million). But at least you know what the absurd behemoth in the harbor is, and, thanks to the wonders of technology, get a glimpse of the inside.

The ship can carry 600 passengers and 150 crewmembers, and it has 28 galleries totaling 12,185 square feet. It includes five decks:

Lower deck: Crew space, show office, and galley.
Deck one: Formal entry, 10 individual exhibit spaces, and a coffee bar.
Deck two: 12 exhibit spaces and the Luxe Lounge, an open-air champagne and caviar lounge on the aft deck.
Deck three: Six exhibit spaces and Sapore, their signature, glass-walled restaurant.
The Sky Deck (deck four): Bistro360, an informal open-air restaurant; a cocktail reception area; and Bar360.

The ship comes to Charleston after visiting Hilton Head and on its way to Norfolk. The boat is scheduled to make more visits in the next few months.

Mmmm. Money.
