Update March 10: The Post and Courier has a slightly more recent post. -- It encourages the notion of a fall opening.

The Charleston City Paper is reporting the the long-fabled IMAX is really coming to West Ashley. The 16-screen theater will replace the old Citadel Mall theater that was torn down.

Given the economy and the fact our last IMAX just closed a year ago, you'll excuse me if I believe it when I see it.

Still, I suspect the theater will do much better when you don't have to drop several dollars on a parking garage.

They were saying it would open in June, but I suspect that the holdups with the City of Charleston will likely have pushed that date back.
