If you love your pet and have ever thought all their shaved hair is a waste, then you're not alone.

Upstate pet groomer, Danelle German, had the same thought and used the notion to start creating custom handbags.

The basic idea is this: A person brings their pet in, the pet is cleaned and hair is removed. That hair is cleaned, spun into yarn, and used to create a custom handbag.

As for cleanliness, German points out on her Web site: "Do you ever wear wool? Dog and cat hair fibers are no different from sheep hair fibers. Except that dog hair and cat hair fibers are much cleaner. After all, sheep do not usually visit their groomer once a month for a nice bath and blow dry after rolling around in the mud, muck and sheep pie (is that what it’s called?)."

Yeah, it's a bit odd, but I think it's brilliant.

This story has been floating around since at least late last year, but it's the first I've heard of it.
