After 14 years, downtown Charleston's Joseph's Restaurant calling it quits

If there's one thing that downtown Charleston's food scene has a lack of, it's simple no-fuss diner-type food.
While I think I'd be challenged if I called Joseph's Restaurant a greasy spoon, it certainly was one of a few spots on the peninsula that satisfied my love for the bottomless cups of coffee and simple fare.
Alas, no longer.
The Post and Courier is reporting that June 30th will be the last day for owners Donna Belli and Joseph Passarini, and the restaurant will close after 14 years of service.

If you want one last visit (or have never gone--in which case I'd suggest the sweet potato pancakes), head to 129 Meeting Street.
The reason for leaving is vague, but it looks like they've been pushed out (for an unknown reason) and no one has yet leased the space.
And the news comes just a month after hearing Alex's is done in Mount Pleasant.
It seems to be like such a lovely place, a place where you could sit and drink your coffee quietly. A lot of people like this place, they will definitely miss it. Let's hope the new owners will keep the restaurant. As for improvements there are options with the restaurant furniture from Canada, some of those pieces have such a warm feel to them, really nice for restaurants of this type.
