Two historic South Carolina dueling pistols fetched $49,725 on the Bonhams & Butterfields auction block earlier this week.

The .52-caliber pistols, both of which were made in 1825, were made by gunsmith James Purdey and owned by Charles Baring-Gould, an English immigrant who had settled in Charleston.

The Post and Courier has more on the sale.
