Upon his passing in 1995, celebrated bird illustrator and plantation owner John Henry Dick decided to leave his family's winter home, Dixie Plantation, to the College of Charleston.

The College of Charleston Foundation plans to protect the natural ecosystem of the Hollywood, S.C. land and create a place where students can come and utilize the property in sustainable ways.

No word on when these learning spaces will be complete, but The Post and Courier has a nice photos set of Dixie Plantation worth taking a glance at.
