On Saturday, September 10th at 10:45 a.m. the Mason Temple Church of God in Christ will host, along with Smoke Free Horry, an anti-smoking event aimed at promoting churches in going smoke-free.

Faiths United Against Tobacco is an organization that helps spread the word of a smoke-free environment and on the dangers of second-hand smoke. There will also be a well-known speaker at this event, La Tanisha Wright, the Western Region Director for the National African American Tobacco Prevention Network (NAATPN). Wright is an anti-smoking activist and a former tobacco manager with strong insight and convictions on how tobacco companies target poor, minority communities.

At 10:00 a.m. that day there will be a free health screening, as well. For more information on this event head on over to SCnow.com
