Run over dog lands one man in jail and other in the hospital (updated x2)

A dog is in an emergency clinic after being hit by a truck, then, in an attempt to put him out of his misery, was attacked with a machete and hammer.

Update October 16:
The Post and Courier has updated the story and is now reporting that the dog's owner has been slapped with a $25,000 bond and has been barred from having any contact with the truck driver or his family.
